Erie’s "Roar on the Shore" is over for this year. For the uninitiated, this is an event for bikers and their passengers. When I say “bikers," I really mean Harley Davidson-riding motorcyclists, though other brands of motorcycles can also be seen—seen but not heard. When there are multitudes of Harleys around, virtually nothing else can be heard.

According to a story published in a recent edition of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, people who have reached retirement age are facing increasing debt, which often means choosing between paying that debt and buying food and medicine.

You owe $350,000 in medical bills and they are coming after you. Maybe they will try to take out your stitches, or your artificial knee. Maybe they’ll call the drug stores and try to keep you from buying ibuprofen. Or, possibly your worst nightmare, you are seriously hurt in an accident, are rushed to the hospital and they refuse to see you and dump you out in the street where you unceremoniously writhe in pain as the rain pelts your immobile body.

USA Today reported that Oreck, Corp. recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. You know Oreck as the manufacturer of upright vacuum cleaners and various household cleaning products.
