Broken Promises by Debt Relief Services
Recently, I met with a client who was feeling upset and disillusioned with the so-called debt relief services being provided by one well-known company. I'm sure you have seen the commercials and received junk mail from similar services that promise relief from your cumbersome debt by paying them a fraction of what you owe.
What to Expect (And Not Expect) At Your Initial Consultation
“No one is so brave that he is not disturbed by something unexpected.” This is a famous quote by Julius Caesar, and we here at Steidl and Steinberg wholeheartedly agree with the famous Roman emperor. Many of our clients have never had a reason to see an attorney. For many, going to see an attorney can, in fact, be somewhat disconcerting, especially when the issue is related to debt problems. Hopefully, this short article will alleviate some of this anxiety by letting you know exactly what to expect when you step into the Steidl & Steinberg offices.
It is actually easier to begin the discussion with what not to expect at your initial consultation. I am consistently told by my clients that they went to see an attorney for a problem and they walked out feeling worse than when they went in. This isn't because they got bad news from the attorney about their legal situation. It is because they were treated so poorly at the office! This does not happen at Steidl and Steinberg. We pride ourselves on treating all of our clients with the dignity and respect that they rightly deserve at all times. Our clients come to us with debt problems. They want to feel better after meeting with us, not worse.
Debt Consolidation Can Offer No Debt Relief
Does this scenario sound familiar to you? You were contacted by one of those out-of-town debt relief companies, or you contacted them, made the arrangements, and have been making payments for over a year. It seems to be working as no one has been calling you. There are no letters from debtors or lawsuits. You are feeling optimistic that this financial nightmare will be over in a couple of years.

Debt collectors harassing you? Call us
There are lots of reasons why people call us, but the major one is they are sick and tired of getting annoying phone calls. The last thing they want to do is talk to the person on the other end of the line.

Does debt have a collection time limit?
I received a call at Steidl and Steinberg from a potential client. It seems that his son was indebted to Discover for over $10,000 and his son is being sued.
